Grants and Contracts Details
Description
Previous research has identified several crash data elements that are incorrectly entered into the crash system. For instance, non-descriptive human factors are being used when a more descriptive code is available. Additionally, despite the widespread use of the Mapping system, eight percent of 2009 crash reports have an incorrect location; most of which can be assisted with proper training. Furthermore, paper reports have been found to contain the most egregious errors. Information on the need to move to an electronic system will be included as well as how to accomplish this. Lastly, several agencies identified in recent research as having more data errors than others will be specifically targeted.
