Licit & Illicit Opioids: Comparative Studies in Humans - SUPPLEMENT

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The proposed inpatient project, under this supplement, will evaluate and characterize the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile of oxycodone when given alone and in the presence of single and multiple-day doses of 1) quinine, and 2) acetazolamide. These two novel target tracers will be examined in separate study blocks using a crossover design but will test the same cohort of subjects. The ultimate (and longer-term) goal of the project is to develop improved pharmacological tracers for safe and accurate use in monitoring adherence with medication ingestion in clinical trials of putative pharmacotherapies for drug dependence (and more broadly for use in clinical trials across other areas of medicine).
