Description
Little Fine Arts Library is requesting $2,500 from LexArts to support the upcoming community film viewing/discussion/concert series entitled "Looking at: Jazz, America's Art Form." The LexArts award will be matched with $1,000 received from NEH/Re: New Media and $1,500 provided by the UK Libraries. The goal of the Lexington Looking at: Jazz program is to engage the community in exploration of jazz as an art form with important cultural and historical significance. This will be accomplished intellectually and aesthetically through films and discussions coupled with jazz performance utilizing the talents of local scholars and musicians. The target audieence is high school aged young people through adults with special emphasis on reaching underserved populations. The Fine Arts LIbrary is partnering with the UK School of Music and the Lexington Public Library on this project.
