Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The KY-WV LSAMP proposes a continuation of the program in order to leverage the progress
and momentum generated in the current funding period. Many strategic staff and programmatic
changes have successfully addressed previous alliance challenges and aggressively increased the
quality and quantity of students from underrepresented (URM) populations who receive degrees
in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. KY-WV LSAMP is
utilizing proven techniques to increase the number of URM students who continue their
education beyond the bachelor’s degree to pursue and attain graduate degrees and professional
certifications. Goals and activities of KY-WV LSAMP focus on providing URM students with
the skills, background knowledge, and professional network to become successful leaders in
academia and industry. This is a collaboration among ten diverse academic institutions and
undergraduate research and diversity programs at each campus.
