Maintenance Free Filters for Continuous Miner Scrubber Systems

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The object of the proposed research is to develop an efficient maintenance free filter for continuous miner scrubber systems. The performance of the existing fibrous screen would be quantified against the chosen parameters. New designs of screens that would fit in the fibrous screen compartment of the flooded-bed dust scrubbers will be generated. Computer models would be produced to predict the airflow patterns, pressure drops, and cleaning efficiency. Some of these designs would be refined and prototypes manufactured. The final design(s) that meet the power requirements and cleaning efficiency trends would be proposed as the suitable non-clogging alternative(s) to the existing fibrous type filter screen.
