Managing Within-Field Variability of Winter Wheat # Upscaling from Transect to Field

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The questions for the proposed research project are: 1. Can the slightly better results for the flexible sensor-based response system compared to homogeneous nitrogen application rate be confirmed? 2. How can our transect information be scaled up to the entire field? 3. Is the inherent yield variability stable over several years and how can we use it for dividing a farmer’s field into different management zones? Expected Results Answer to these questions: “How is wheat yield variability related to landscape topography?”. “Can crop-sensor-based information be combined with landscape information for improving N-fertilizer recommendations?” “Does the variable N application based on sensor/landscape information perform better than uniform N application?
