Mapping Gas Flows in AGN by Reverberation

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Our goal is to first develop the ability of the spectral simulation code Cloudy to fully simulate the behavior of Mrk 817, as we did for NGC 5548. We will create photoionization models to derive the physical conditions in the emission and absorption line gas to fulfill the objectives of the STORM2 project. Cloudy is an open source code and continues to be very widely used with over three hundred papers citing its documentation each year. Because it is open-source, our improvements will be readily available to the community.
