Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center’s Comprehensive Breast Care Center (UK CBCC) seeks to continue Mamm’s Day Out, a successful, quarterly Saturday morning and/or week-night program for breast cancer screening and health education that serves the uninsured and under-insured populations of Fayette, Bourbon, Clark, Jessamine, Madison, Scott, and Woodford counties. This program serves women whose work schedules and other competing obligations prevent them from seeking breast screening during conventional working hours. Participants will be identified and invited by the Markey screening director, who will provide a program of education and awareness information on-site, complete with translation services. Screening will be performed at the Whitney-Hendrickson Building on the UK campus by UK CBCC technicians and will be read and reported by UK CBCC radiologists. Additional screening opportunities, such as bloodwork and the take-home Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) for colorectal cancer, will be provided to all participants. Administrative follow-up will be provided by the Markey administrative staff in combination with Kentucky Cancer Link. Requests for transportation and other needs for support will be coordinated by the UK Markey Psych-oncology staff.
