Markey Saturday Screening and Education Program

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center’s Comprehensive Breast Care Center (UK CBCC) seeks to institute a quarterly Saturday Program for Breast Cancer Screening and Education to serve the uninsured and under-insured populations of Fayette, Bourbon, Clark, Jessamine, Madison, Scott, and Woodford counties. This program aims to serve women whose work schedules and other competing obligations prevent them from seeking breast screening during the work week. Participants will be identified and enrolled by the Markey screening coordinator, who will provide a program of education and awareness information on-site at each event. Screening will be performed at the Whitney-Hendrickson Building on the UK campus by UK CBCC mammography technicians and then read and reported by UK CBCC radiologists. Administrative followup will be provided by the UK CBCC administrative staff. Requests for transportation and other needs for support will be coordinated through the UK Markey Psych-oncology staff.
