Measuring the Rates of Weigh-Mile Tax Evasion in Oregon

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The rate of tax evasion for the Oregon weight-mile tax imposed on most commercial motor carriers in the state has not been measured in more than 15 years. With advancements in technology the State needs to develop and validate updated methods for measuring the rate of evasion. Research may also be required to support a subsequent study to establish the existing statewide evasion rate, classify the rates of different evasion methods, and to document the need and requirements for potential ongoing or periodic measurement of future evasion rates.
