Description
OBJECTIVES: This investigation aims to provide a full understanding of the practice of using
Mechanically Stabilized Earth Walls (MSEW) in Kentucky. The objectives of the study are as
follows:
1. Review the current state of practice for use of Mechanically Stabilized Earth Walls by
other highway agencies.
2. Review current applicable design guidelines for MSEW for Kentucky condition.
3. Develop design and usage guidelines for engineers, specification writers, construction
inspectors and maintenance persOlUlel with the selection, design and construction of
Mechanically Stabilized Earth Walls (MSEW)
4. Monitor the current long-term performance of existing structures.
