Grants and Contracts Details

Description

ABSTRACT/SCOPE OF WORK Despite a higher risk of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and more rapid progression from MCI to AD, there is a paucity of neuroimaging data on older African American men in the years prior to cognitive decline to AD. The proposed research will allow us to better understand intra-individual variabilities in risk for cognitive decline and conversion to Alzheimer’s disease in older African American men. The results will provide insights toward identifying and validating markers of early changes in AD African American men—a necessary step to understanding of how AD affects men, and which tailored interventions are most effective for mitigating AD/RD risk and slowing AD progression in African American men. Dr. Esiaka will be responsible for Aims 1 and 2, including the implementation of all human subjects’ research. She will be responsible for communication with MCCFAD and submission of annual reports. Also, she will be responsible for overseeing Bluegrass EEG protocol data collection procedure, neuropsychological assessment, and overall IRB approvals.
