Description
Successfully standardized methods for measurement of mitochondrial oxygen
consumption employing the Seahorse Biosciences XF24 Flux Analyzer. With this
method, only ~5ìg mitochondrial protein is needed to measure oxygen consumption (a
16-fold yield decrease in tissue needed). This breakthrough will allow us for the first the
ability to assay total, synaptic and non-synaptic mitochondrial populations from the
same animal. In addition to increased sensitivity, multiple samples can be analyzed at
the same time.
