Mitochondrial-Targeted Therapeutics for Treatment of Spinal Cord Injury

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Successfully standardized methods for measurement of mitochondrial oxygen consumption employing the Seahorse Biosciences XF24 Flux Analyzer. With this method, only ~5ìg mitochondrial protein is needed to measure oxygen consumption (a 16-fold yield decrease in tissue needed). This breakthrough will allow us for the first the ability to assay total, synaptic and non-synaptic mitochondrial populations from the same animal. In addition to increased sensitivity, multiple samples can be analyzed at the same time.
