Description
The University of Kentucky Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory shall obtain analytical testing of
arthropod samples, particularly mosquitoes and ticks, collected for the purpose of screening the
samples for the presence of arboviruses and other diseases of public health concerns.
Conduct virology testing on mosquito pool samples collected by local Health Department staff, up to
100 samples for the contract period.
Test the mosquito samples for a panel of arboviral diseases, as indicated by the sampling
conditions. The panel of tests shall include Zika virus, west nile virus, La Crosse Encephalitis
virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus, and St. Louis Encephalitis virus. The list of tests may
increase as other potential
vector-borne diseases emerge, and depending on the availability of funds.
