Grants and Contracts Details
Description
With the advancement of detection and communication technologies, more data has been generated by various sensors. This data contains large amount of information on infrastructure condition and operating characteristics as well as traveler behavior across temporal and spatial domain. These data items present an opportunity for better understanding the interactions between the travelers and the traveling environment for better safety monitoring and design of safety improvement strategies. However, due to the enormous amount of the data and various sources with different format, how to use these data sources effectively remains a challenge. The objective of this study is to develop an integrate framework for safety and mobility analysis. The UK team will conduct research on data source review, data needs analysis, data integration issues in the aspects of acquisition, quality assurance, data fusion. After integrating big data from various sources, applications that enhance safety and mobility performances will be developed.
