Description

Presidential Policy Directive 8 (PPD 8) and the National Preparedness Goal direct federal government agencies to partner with the whole community to address core response capabilities in disaster. A key competency to developing national capability for successful whole community animal response is effective multi]jurisdictional coordination. This national functional exercise will enhance regional coordination between states; utilize the animal response resource typing prototyped by the Southern Agriculture and Animal Disaster Response Alliance (SAADRA); incorporate whole community resources of the National Animal Rescue and Sheltering Coalition (NARSC); build state capabilities to request resources from other states (through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact), from the federal sector (through the Action Request Form process), and from non]governmental partners; and build state capabilities to respond to EMAC requests for animal response resources.
