NASA ICESat-2 Hexacopter Engineering Chellenge Undergraduate Team

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The NASA Goddard Flight Facility has established the 2015 ICESat-2 Hexacopter Engineering Challenge to encourage students throughout the US to develop novel approaches to autonomous multicopter aircraft systems as part of the EPO for the NASA ICESat-2 Mission. The contest involves teams of undergraduate students designing a system around a hexacopter frame to carry a precise rangefinder. This syst3em will generate detailed 3D digital elevation models (DEM) of a target area. The team will develop the hardware and software systems in the Spring and Summer of 2015 and compete in the contest at the NASA Goddard Flight Facility in the Summer of 2015. This proposal requests $10,000 from NASA for materials and supplies and travel money for the competition team.
