Description
Establish a statewide KY Violent Death Surveillance Reporting System using the tools developed for
the National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS);
• Establish an advisory committee to assist in the development, oversight, and direction of the KVDRS.
• Work with the advisory committee to establish standard methodologies for data collection and
management
• Provide continuous data improvement through Improve Coroner Reporting, through a centralized
Coroner Reporting System, quarterly CIRS basic training, begin a web-based ME and coroner system;
• Evaluate the KYDRS;
• Conduct detailed analysis and epidemiological studies using the KYDRS data;
• Assist local and statewide efforts to reduce violent deaths;
• Provide information for agencies and communities to develop and evaluate interventions through data
dissemination (detailed reports, presentations, peer-reviewed publications, system development, and
educational materials);
• Extend multi-agency, multidisciplinary review of all child fatalities under the age of 18 (statewide). CFR
data will be incorporated into the KYDRS;
