New Quaternary Geologic Mapping Along the Ohio River in Northern Kentucky

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This proposal is seeking $154,726 to support new surficial geologic mapping in Kentucky, in areas which have been identified by the Kentucky Geologic State Mapping Advisory Committee as priority areas that need more detailed surficial geologic mapping to meet societal needs. This proposal includes a one-year project intended to support the long-range goals identified by the SGMAC. For 2017-18, we are proposing to complete new surficial geologic maps for the Covington, Lawrenceburg IN, Newport, Patriot, and Rising Sun 7.5-minute quadrangles in northern Kentucky. With the reduction in award amount ($154,726) from the proposed amount of $297,211, we are proportionally reducing the intended deliverables to the Kentucky portions of only five quadrangles along the Ohio River in northern Kentucky. The sponsor award amount covers salaries for two full time mappers, and a portion of one temporary position. We will use parts of KGS salaries of three professionals as the required match. We have secured other funding to cover our operating expenses for the intended effort.
