Novel Imaging Biomarker for Diagnosing and Treating Spatial Memory Loss in Prodromal Alzheimer's Disease Models

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The subcontract described here is between Wayne State University (Dr. Bruce Berkowitz) and UK (Dr. Olivier Thibault). Funds are requested in this multi-PI R01 submission to determine the level of calcium homeostasis in neurons from 2 animal model of Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Thibault (15%) will train and guide a graduate student (100%) to record calcium status in single cells obtained from two different models of AD (5xFAD, HNE). Three age groups taken before, during and following strong beta amyloid deposits will be studies in both sexes. Three Aims are proposed with each lasting approximately 1.5 to 2 years. The animals will be shipped at Wayne State’s cost and we will incur the per diem and other costs associated with maintaining the animals in our quarantine facility and delivering them to our lab for analysis.
