Description

In early 2012, NURail, a consortium of major research universities led by the University of Illinois was designated as a Tier 1 National University Transportation Center (UTC) by the USDOT. This proposal is comprised of 5 projects that the University of Kentucky will undertake within the umbrella of the NURail Consortium. The five projects, listed below, are fully described in the project scope of work in the 5 documents attached: 1. 3D methodology for evaluating rail crossing roughness 2. Rail life-cycle performance studies 3. REES Module and Intermodal Course Enhancement 4. Impact of lock and dam closures on rail system 5. A National Survey of Commuter Rail Policy
