Description
The scope of this project will be to hold two weekend-long military family camps in different
areas of the state. These family camps will be "purple" and will be open to all branches ofthe
military, the National Guard, and Army Reserve families. The goals ofthis military family camp
initiative are:
• Provide an educational, recreational, and social outreach program for military families that
offer opportunities for family team building and fun, holistic healing, and quality time
together as a family unit.
• Increase resiliency skills related to creative coping strategies, problem solving, family
communication and teamwork, and adjusting to change for military families.
• Increase formal and informal support systems for military families from both the military and
civilian sectors.
• Increase the number of collaborations and partnerships throughout the state who share the
goals of reaching out to military families and building and enhancing community capacity for
providing sustainable support services to military families.
