Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This proposal is to create a statewide lifelong learning institute for older adults in Kentucky. The University of Kentucky has had a vibrant lifelong learning program for more than 40 years. The statewide institute will use the resources of that program for this initiative. Regional sites will be developed in phases; the Lexington region will be positioned for growth; and an administrative center will provide strategic direction and resources. An initial grant of $96,831 for the period January 1 - December 31, 2007 will allow us to start regional sites in two new regions, developing regionally based volunteer leadership groups and offering 3-4 courses at each with membership reaching 40 at each in the first year. It will also result in offering 3-4 new courses in Lexington, with a membership increase of 110. The initial grant will also restructure and enhance the administrative function to serve a statewide network and to meet conditions of the Osher Foundation.
