Pathways to Adulthood: Opportunities and Challenges for Harlan County Youth Employment Success

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This follow up survey to the Harlan Youth Employability Program (HYEP) data originally gathered from students, parents and teachers in 1991 has two components. The first is recruitment as a research method for network analysis and second is the comparison to the original study. Survey will be mailed containing questions on social capital, career success, human capital, ego network data and initial positions. These measures will be used to gauge the opportunities and challenges that youth and young adults come across on their path trom school to a career. Through understanding the networks, key players within the community can be identified and recommendations can be made on how to strengthen networks within central Appalachia.
