Description

Abstract Objective 1.0 (Current objective for award FA8650-23-2-6504): quantify the performance and musculoskeletal health demands of ST support airmen duties and develop a military-specific framework for conducting job task analyses. The result of this work will enable any unit across the USAF to implement action plans that reduce the risk of job-related injury and improve job-specific physical performance. Task Objective 1.1: Quantify human performance and musculoskeletal health characteristics within special tactics support airmen Task Objective 1.2: Profile the physical and physiological demands of special tactics support airmen job tasks within local and remote training environments Task Objective 1.3 Develop a preliminary job-task to health and performance intervention framework that the broader US Air Force can use to conduct job task analyses and generate intervention action plans within any unit or occupation specialty. Objective 2.0 (Additional objective for expanded Scope): Investigate the influence of physical activity outside of unit supported human performance programming on measured performance and musculoskeletal health characteristics over time and if a wrist worn wearable device can be used to help monitor and adjust programming to improve performance and health outcomes. Task Objective 2.1: Determine if exercise and physical activity participation outside of unit human performance programming has a mediation effect on the ability of human performance services to predict performance and musculoskeletal health outcomes. Task Objective 2.2: Determine if wearable technology, in the form of a wrist worn watch, can continuously and adequately monitor and measure training volume and intensity inside and outside of unit human performance programming.
