Pl 33: Roadway Inventory Data from Mandli Implementation

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

KYTC Division of Maintenance collects roadway data using Mandli pavement scanners. Mandli software provides detailed information that can be used in the calculation of pavement geometry including horizontal curve characteristics, such as super elevation, and vertical curvature (grade). Mandli software is available that can process a large number of data points to derive these data items. After verifying the accuracy of Mandli’s process and information, it was determined that its data could be utilized by the Division of Planning. Effort for applying this procedure was roughly estimated as part of a previous project. Now, this current project seeks to implement those efforts. That is, using Mandli data to extract records for vertical and horizontal curves throughout the state. This includes vertical grade, horizontal curve radius, and cross-slope or super elevation. These records will be presented in shapefiles at project completion.
