PL 53, Evaluating the Accuracy and Applicability of Streetlight Turning Movements Data

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Abstract PL 53, Evaluating the Accuracy and Applicability of Streetlight Turning Movements Data 5/1/24-6/30/25 KYTC has licensed StreetLight (STL) dataset that is created from various original data sources including the location-based services (LBS), in-vehicle location tracking systems, and other mobile device based data. The STL dataset includes volume, speed, origin-destination data at various temporally and spatially aggregated levels. One of the products is turning movement data that could be of value to replace costly manual counts needed for various planning, design, operation, and safety applications. The objective of the study is to evaluate the STL turning movement dataset by comparing it with turning movement counts collected during the period of 2016-2023 (when STL data is available) at selected intersections. The evaluation result will help determine the applicability of this data for transportation applications.
