Description
Create a Center to develop technologies for controlling insects with support from NSF and industrial
partners. This will be a collaborative effort between UK and Iowa State University. The objective of this
proposal is to hold a planning meeting for the proposed new Industry/University Cooperative Research
Center (I/UCRC), the Center for Arthropod Management Technologies (CAMTech). The goals of the
planning meeting are to present a compelling case for the Center to prospective members and to determine
the initial research agenda. The strategy will be for the lead institution, Iowa State University (ISU) to host
a meeting September 5-7, 2012 with participants from organizations with vested interest in
arthropod management, from government, and from ISU and the partner institution, University
of Kentucky (UK). The purpose of the meeting is to (i) communicate the benefits and policies of
membership in this multi-university I/UCRC, (ii) foster interaction between representatives from
prospective member companies and the research team and university administrators, (iii) present
potential research projects, (iv) solicit feedback from prospective members on presented research
projects and learn of other areas of interest within the capabilities of the ISU/UK research team.
