Planning Research Data Services in Academic Libraries: Designing a Conceptual Services Model based on Patron Needs Assessment

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This planning project will serve as an initial investigation for a larger project aimed at developing research data services in academic libraries to support researchers in data collection, management, analysis, and presentation. The project team will conduct a multi-method study to investigate the current status of research data services, needs of potential patrons, and perceptions and opinions of heterogeneous stakeholders, such as librarians, administrators, and scholars. Based on the findings, a conceptual model of research data services will be proposed, which will be used in a subsequent project to develop research data services in an academic research library. In addition, this project will yield guidelines for data services librarian training and suggest curricula for library science programs.
