STATEMENT OF WORK Precision Nitrogen Management of Corn for Improving Farm Profitability and Water Quality in Southern Illinois Project period: October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022 Project investigators: Dr. Joshua M. McGrath ACTIVITIES University of Kentucky personnel will support the proposed project by applying pre-plant and side-dress nitrogen, planting corn, and harvesting grain for two to four field sites in Illinois or in Kentucky close to southern Illinois. In addition, we will collect NDVI readings from plots during side-dress activities and map soil electrical conductivity. The current budget requests to support the proposed project activities (Table 1). The budget includes personnel support for a Research Scientist I, temporary seasonal help, and contributions by UKY project PI, Dr. Josh McGrath. Travel funds cover 15 days of travel to field sites for project personnel and transportation of planter and spray equipment to field sites by University of Kentucky staff. In addition, we have included funds to cover cost of attendance at annual NREC meeting and one SIU field day to present on project findings.
