Precision Nutrient Management Through Improved Understanding of Soil Dynamics

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Abstract: The objective of this work is to improve precision application of fertilizer nutrients by developing greater understanding of soil properties and how they interact with the cash crop. Plots located at two locations in Kentucky will be evaluated using a VERIS P4000 for various soil properties in paired plots, where one plot is fertilized and one plot is an unfertilized control. Soils data from the Veris, as well as within-season crop growth data, and crop yield will be used to evaluate the fertilizer nutrient use efficiency geospatially within each field.
