Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The objective of the study is to compare industrialized macrophage cell lines and the primary--?derived macrophage cells in phenotype and function. Use of primary macrophage cells have been common in laboratory, but it not only takes longer (compared to that of ready-made cell lines) to be cultivated into macrophage cells, but it also is deemed more unethical, requiring animals to be dissected and killed. If cell lines and the primary cells show similar results in response to various procedures, and then industrialized cell lines could be trusted to be used in future experiments in place of the primary cells.
