Grants and Contracts Details

Description

Abstract Preliminary Evaluation for CO2 Storage, Trapp Gas Field Area, Clark County, Kentucky East Kentucky Power Cooperative is requesting a geological survey from the Kentucky Geological Survey to determine the feasibility of adding CO2 sequestration to the JK Smith Generating station located in Trapp, KY. Work to include estimated storage capability and capacity. Work to include risks factors associated with the geological structure to the potential of releasing CO2. KGS will indicate locations for future wells for injection sites, expected number of wells needed, approximate depth, efficiency of storage, recommended program for acquiring seismic-reflection data, and distance from the nearest fault.
