Grants and Contracts Details
Description
The Hitomi mission has inaugurated the era of high resolution X-ray spectroscopy.
It has also brought to focus areas in the modeling of X-ray plasmas that prevent the full potential of Hitomi, and the forthcoming XRISM mission, from being met.
We propose to address these limitations in our pan-spectral synthesis code Cloudy.
This will enable high-fidelity spectral predictions to be made in ab initio simulations.
Cloudy also permits radiative excitations to be taken into account, and so offers a complementary view to that afforded by the commonly used X-ray spectral fitting packages.
