Grants and Contracts Details
Description
WUKY in Lexington Kentucky, a public broadcasting station licensed to the University
of Kentucky, requests funding for the replacement of its Master Control audio console,
CD players, and HD exporter. We also propose some additional monitoring and
datacasting equipment. The audio console is thirteen years old, spare parts are becoming
difficult to obtain, and it has begun to be increasingly unreliable. The CD players have
reached the end of their useful life. Failures of these key pieces of equipment in our audio
chain have caused numerous disruptions of service over the past 18 months. Although our
HD exporter is only 4 years old, the technology has been upgraded substantially since we
made that initial investment with CPB support.
As the only locally-originated source of public radio programming in Lexington KY,
WUKY requests consideration under Priority 2.
