Description
Title: Rapid detection and management of red crown rot, an emerging soybean disease
caused by Calonectria ilicicola
Univ KY PI: Carl Bradley
Plan of work:
Red crown rot, caused by the fungus Calonectria ilicicola, is an emerging disease in Kentucky
and other states, such as Illinois and Indiana. Research to develop rapid detection of the red
crown rot pathogen and to evaluate potential red crown rot management practices in the field is
proposed. Dr. Carl Bradley’s laboratory at the University of Kentucky will work with the overall
PI at Michigan State University to test potential pathogen detection systems and will conduct
field research trials to evaluate potential disease management options.
