Research Data Centers: Kentucky Research Data Center

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

We seek funding to support the creation of the Kentucky Research Data Center (KRDC), which will be a partnership between the U.S. Census Bureau and the University of Kentucky. Joining KRDC as inaugural consortium members are Indiana University, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Louisville, and Ball State University. KRDC will provide state-of-the-art facilities and services for researchers to gain access to restricted-use data supported by the Census Bureau, the National Center for Health Statistics, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, and other federal agencies. The Center will be housed in the newly renovated and expanded Gatton College of Business and Economics, which is centrally located on the University of Kentucky campus in Lexington, Kentucky. KRDC will join the national network of 24 operational or soon-to-open RDCs, and will fill an important geographical gap in RDC facility coverage in the East-Central region of the United States. At present the closest operational RDC is over 330 miles away, and KRDC will offer more proximate access to faculty and graduate students at Kentucky and our consortium members.
