Description
The REU student will be focusing on the use of LoraWAN communication technologies for machine learning, in the context of smartgrids. These technologies provide long range communications at low data rates, and have found numerous applications in several domains. However, machine learning approaches often rely on large amounts of data that can be hardly transmitted over such low data rates. In this REU, we will investigate how to optimize the data processing at the edge, data transmission, and machine learning design in order to enable the application of machine learning methodologies over LoraWAN communication, without sacrificing accuracy and requiring extremely long transmission times.
