REU Supplement: NER: Directed and Selective Self-Assembly of Nanosized Particles via Surface-Plasmon Excitation

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

We propose a RED supplement to NSF award #0609137 entitled "NER: Directed and Selective Self-Assembly of Nanosized Particles via Surface-Plasmon Excitation." The proposed REU supplement enhances the intellectual merit of the current award by utilizing an undergraduate researcher's talents to explore a wider parameter space for directed nanoparticle assembly. In addition, the RED supplement will enhance the broader impact of the work by exposing an especially promising undergraduate student to interdisciplinary nanoscale engineering and manufacturing research. This represents an initial step toward building a better trained workforce for the emerging field of nano-manufacturing.
