Description

Abstract RSF 144, Addressing Essential Questions for Achieving Nationwide Deployment of Unique Electronic Identifiers on Commercial Vehicles In a recently completed project, “Advancing Universal ID Through Demonstration of Enabling Technologies” (RSF 119), KTC researchers procured and demonstrated two candidate technologies for achieving the objectives of “Universal ID,” i.e., requiring a unique electronic identifier on every commercial vehicle in the United States. That project began to answer some of the key questions related to Universal ID, but it only scratched the surface addressing the many critical questions and providing a full understanding of this essential topic. The goal of this project is to build upon the previous work and to explore and address critical questions related to nationwide deployment of Universal ID technologies.
