Description
The Department of Vehicle Regulation, Division of Motor Carriers has provided various tools through the CVISN program to the Kentucky State Police, Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement to assist with the identification of vehicles for inspection. These screening systems help to identify companies and vehicles that may have credential, licensing, or registration problems, as well as a poor safety history.
KSP-CVE officers and inspectors are engaged in a wide range of activities, including the enforcement of regulations related to the Division of Motor Carriers and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. These officers and inspectors have to be familiar with a large number of credentials and well as licensing and registration requirements. In order to keep the KSP-CVE staff up-to-date on these credentials as well as the new screening systems, regular training is needed.
The purpose of this project is to provide training on CVISN-related screening systems and credentials to KSP-CVE officers and inspectors. This training will include a classroom session to review the credentials and safety information and how to access the data and also an enforcement blitz focused on utilization of the Kentucky’s CVIEW. KTC will also maintain a training manual that may be utilized after the sessions as a resource for enforcement.
