Abstract
RSF 97, Driver Focus Camera
4/1/2020-9/30/2023
The goal of this project is to enhance the KATS system at the London (Laurel County) NB facility with the
implementation of a driver-focused camera to allow for viewing the drivers as they enter the facility and ensure
they are complying with mandatory safety regulations for operating a commercial vehicle. This will ensure that
all commercial vehicle drivers coming through the facility are operating safely and it will help protect the
traveling public who end up traveling near commercial vehicles.
The objective of this project is to increase the number of seat belt related and cell phone related violations
identified through inspection at the London (Laurel County) NB weigh station. KTC will identify a baseline for
seatbelt and cell phone related violations at the start of the project. At the end of the project, KTC will allow
for one year to lapse and then will identify the number of seatbelt and cell phone related violations at the same
location. This information will be summarized for the ITD Program Manager.
