Grants and Contracts Details

Description

The University of Kentucky Program for Archaeological Research proposes to list the Creelsboro Rural Historic District (CRHD) in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The CRHD was determined eligible by consensus by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE) and the SHPO in 1988. The CRHD includes Jackman Bottom, Creelsboro Bottom, Swan Pond Bottom, Salt Lick Bottom, and Wells Bottom, and is estimated to encompass 4,349 acres. In the March 1989 Architectural/Historical Survey for the Proposed Feasibility Study to Improve Wolf Creek Power Plant, Russell-Clinton Counties, Kentucky, there were 76 key structures, 132 barns or pivotal farm structures, seven historic sites and 24 historic cemeteries. Janie-Rice Brother will serve as Project Director and Principal Investigator for this nomination; she is the architectural historian for UK Program for Archaeological Research.
