Description
OBJECTIVES: This research wiII observe asphalt construction utilizing the Safety Edge technology, and
monitor multiple aspects of construction and performance related to the technology. These observations
will provide Kentucky Transportation Cabinet personnel the necessary information for decision-making
regarding appropriate changes to asphalt construction specificati ons. f he research objectives include:
I . SummalY of research already conducted with the Safety Edge technology.
2. Evaluation of Kentucky projects being paved with the Safety Edge, including asphalt
performance measurements and contractor feedback.
3. Recommendation to the Kentucky TranspOltation Cabinet regarding future use of Safety Edge
technology with asphalt pavement construction.
