Scoliosis and Testing of Exercise Parameters Study (STEPS)

Shriners Hospital has received notification of an award from Kosair Charities, Inc. for this research project with the same title, for the period 10/01/2006-09/30/2007. In order to accomplish the goals of the study, Shriners Hospital will be collaborting with Dr. Jody Clasey from the Body Composition Core Laboratory and Pediatric Exercise Physiology Lab at UK. Dr. Clasey will perform the following: 1) Lead associate team members in the data collection of 15 adolescents with Scoliosis including DXA scan, pulmonary function testing and graded exercise testing; 2) Colloborate with the clinical team from Shriners Hospital on improving pulmonary function in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis.
