Scope: Confucius Institute China into College Grant

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

In this proposal from the Musicology and Ethnomusicology Division and the School of Music and College of Fine Arts, we are requesting support in the amount of $6000 to support programs that will provide numerous opportunities for University of Kentucky students and members of the community to get involved in “engaging with Chinese musical frontiers” in various exciting ways. With this support, we plan to purchase Chinese instruments, have 2 guest teaching visits from Dr. Han Kuo Huang and support an extended residency with Tamir Hargana and supportive musicians that includes a class visit, a throatsinging workshop, rehearsals and 2 performances (1 in a Lexington community venue and one on the University of Kentucky campus in the UK World Music and Dance concert).
