Description
The new “Late Imperial China” course, which will cover China during the Ming and Qing
dynasties, will substantially expand student exposure to China in the undergraduate history
curriculum. Incorporating the RTTP role-playing game at the beginning of the semester will
increase student retention and participation in the course, as well as student interest in
subsequent iterations of the course. The RTTP curriculum will help students engage directly
with the ideas and concepts that were so important to politics and culture in late imperial
China. Students will be prepared to take more advanced courses in Chinese history and
language, and engage more deeply with the history of the premodern past.
