Scope: Zixue Tai: Confucius Institute Faculty Travel Grant

Grants and Contracts Details

Description

I am applying for the UKCI Faculty Grant Program (for fiscal year 2019) in support of my planned conference travel to Madrid, Spain (July 7-11, 2019) in order to present China-related research to, and network with, researchers and scholars from across the world. The conference is the annual convention hosted by the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), which is “the preeminent worldwide professional organisation in the field of media and communication research. Its members promote global inclusiveness and excellence within the best traditions of critical scholarship in the field” (iamcr.org/). Its annual convention typically attracts over 2,000 attendees from about 70-80 countries in the world, and provides a wonderful venue to share research and interconnect with scholars who are interested in a variety of issues and challenges in the field of global media. In recent years, China-related research has been eminently highlighted, ranging from state regulation of the media to the implications and impacts of the burgeoning new media sector.
