Grants and Contracts Details

Description

This pattern of care study is undertaken to examine and characterize the cancer treatment practice patterns in different geographic areas of the United States. The cancer types to be investigated are female breast cancer, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (NHL), Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (HL), Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), and sarcoma. Data will be collected for diagnosis year 2013 for female breast cancer, NHL, and HL in the adolescent and young adult (AYA) population with patients 15-39 years of age. Data will be collected for diagnosis years 2012-2013 for sarcoma patients of all ages and AYA patients diagnosed with ALL. The sample size consists of 320 patients randomly selected from all eligible cancer sites. The abstractors will travel to the medical facilities which reported each patient and review the medical chart. Information on insurance status, hospital, and tumor characteristics will be abstracted from the medical record. In addition, information about patient participation in clinical trials as well as therapy provided to the cancer patients will be abstracted from the medical record and verified with the treating physician via physician office records or physician verification forms.
