Grants and Contracts Details

Purpose: To collect data longitudinally from the former Sheppard Square residents about changes in their social, health and economic well-being as a result of their relocation and the revitalization of the Sheppard Square community. As detailed in the Community Supportive Services (CSS) Evaluation Plan of the Sheppard Square HOPE VI application, the evaluation will measure the performance and impact of the HOPE VI Revitalization program over the life of the grant, and evaluate the effectiveness and success of the early childhood education component and health initiatives. This is congruent with the research mission of our College. The evaluation objectives also complement my research focus on the social determinants of health, as well as my pursuit of formal training in public health, with a concentration in quantitative methods, at the Harvard School of Public Health. Specifically, the Evaluation Plan proposes to evaluate the impact of the HOPE VI on the lives of the residents and LMHA’s success integrating the physical and Community Supportive Services aspects of the HOPE VI strategy to determine the extent to which the goals stated in the application are achieved. Measurable indicators of success that will be compared against the HOPE VI goals and baselines will be developed and agreed upon in collaboration with the LMHA staff.
